Feeding the Garden

This is Yard Rescuers and we’re going to teach these neighbours how to get the lawns and gardens they’ve always wanted, so join us to see how we can bring these yards back to life in just a few easy steps with help from the latest Scotts and Miracle-Gro products.

On this episode, we’re going to Shannon’s house to see how she’s taking care of her garden. If done correctly, she can get big, beautiful results all summer long.

So how’s the garden doing? It’s great. I love the colour. I love how it makes my yard look. It’s looking beautiful, but let me ask you: are you feeding your plants? Well, I water my plants. Am I supposed to feed them, too?

Well, plants survive by consuming nutrients from the soil, but over time these nutrients get used up, so it’s important to feed your garden with plant food to replenish the nutrients it needs to thrive. We have a great Miracle-Gro product that makes feeding so easy and will help bring your garden to the next level. Let’s go check it out.

Alright, Shannon, there’s a few ways to feed your garden. You can use a water soluble plant food like these ones here, however, they need to be reapplied every ten to fourteen days. To make feeding really easy, we’ll use Miracle-Gro Shake and Feed. It’s a slow release plant food that shakes on in minutes. With only one application, it’ll feed your garden all season long. All season long? I don’t have to reapply it at all?

Shake and Feed feeds up to four months and it comes in a wide variety of formulas. There’s All Purpose, Ultra Bloom, Trees and Shrubs, and a special mix for vegetable gardens. Since your garden has both flowers and shrubs, we should use the Shake and Feed All Purpose Plant Food. Let’s get feeding.

Well, how easy was that, Shannon? That was so quick. It took less than five minutes.

And that’s all you need to feed, and in no time you’ll notice happy, healthy flowers with bigger blooms. Just remember to keep up a good watering routine. Well, that’s it for this episode of Yard Rescuers. For more great lawn and garden tips, visit Scotts.ca.
