<p>Some canners still believe that sterilizing their jars should be done in the oven. However what happens when you sterilize your jars in the oven is that the heat is not distributed evenly, and when you put your jar in there, and put your hot liquid in there, the jars actually can shatter.</p>
<p>So the only safe method of sterilising your jars is by placing them in a hot water bath canner, and leaving them there until you're ready to use.</p>
