Hi Everyone! I’m Vanessa Sicotte from Damask & Dentelle. People always ask me how they can decorate kids rooms without committing to something too permanent. I mean, kids grow up so quickly these days. And they also like to change their minds. A lot!

I’m super excited about this solution - a new paint called Plasti Dip. It creates a rubber coating that stays flexible and stretchy, even after it dries. So you can peel it off when it’s time to change things up. Simple and easy. I used it to add a pop of colour to some metal brackets for shelving.

I just laid out a drop cloth in a well-ventilated area and followed the instructions on the can. I also used gloves to protect my hands (or manicure).

One of the things that I love about this product is that you don’t need to use primer for small projects, like this one, and you can apply as many coats of Plasti Dip as you’d like. I just held the can about 20 centimetres away from the surface and applied the paint evenly. You do need to shake the can often. After each coat dry, let it dry for 30 minutes before applying the next one. I did four coats on my brackets.

Don’t forget to let the brackets dry for at least four hours before hanging them on the wall.

This is such a great way to make a fun style statement, you’ll love it too, I promise! And when you want to change their room, you can easily peel that yellow paint off and have a neutral palette once again. Honestly you’ve got to try this one at home. You’ll love this product as much as I do. I paired it with some wall decals, which can also be switched up without fuss, to give the space a fun, youthful feel.
