When it comes to testing truck tires, Canadian Tire cuts no corners.
Welcome to the world class facility where we do our most extreme off-road tire testing.
If our tires make it through here, we know they’ll handle the tough challenges of driving in Canada.
We use some grueling tests to compile wet off-road and dry off-road scores, both of which are out of 100. The closer to 100, the better.
We start with the Mud Traction Test where we measure a tire’s acceleration through serious mud.
We run this test to measure the tire’s amount of slip, and the time and distance it takes to accelerate.
Next, we push through the Hill Climb Test. This specially designed hill has a steep 30° slope with different surfaces – from smooth to rocky.
We do this test dry and wet to measure a tire’s ability to climb, regain, and maintain traction.
Then we hit the Boulder Crawl. This extreme man-made terrain consists of huge, rough boulders several feet high.
Severe slopes, drop-off areas, and pinch zones help our technicians measure durability, traction, and four-way stability.
Finally, we get to the Rock Garden Test – designed to simulate a typical off-road riverbed crossing.
This test is muddy and flooded with water, so the tires are soaked before we measure boulder crawling ability.
It’s this kind of tough testing that gets us tires that score high enough for you to count on. That makes Canadian Tire Canada’s automotive authority.
