How to wax your car by hand

Its summer time, so let’s get that ride of yours looking its best. Don’t worry if you’ve never waxed a car by hand before. It’s easy. You got this.

Before you get the wax out, the prep process is an important part of the waxing adventure.

1. To ensure there’s no old wax or stuck on dirt and grime that will foul up your wax job, you’re going to want to clean the car.

2. Put your hand in a plastic bag and gently rub your hand over the surface of your car.

The bag will help to detect any stuck on grit and dirt that has adhered to the paint and can’t be removed by simply washing the car.

3. Grab the clay and ensure it is well lubricated using a spray detailer.

4. Start to move the clay over the surface of the car, as it picks up dirt and grit.

5. Apply more detailer spray once the clay starts to drag or catch.

6. Keep folding the clay into itself so that the grit is not being dragged across the whole vehicle.

Okay, now you’re ready to get to the wax.

7. Squeeze out some liquid wax to the wax applicators and begin applying the wax in a circulator motion in straight lines, ensuring that you’re overlapping each section.

Try to wax one panel of the car at a time.

8. It’s a good indication you need to apply more wax once the applicator starts to drag on the paint.

9. Once you’re done with that, use a microfibre towel to remove the wax and buff to a shine.

10. Repeat this process for each panel of the car.

And that’s how it’s done. We can’t guarantee that you’re going to be able to win any karate tournaments with these new skills, but your car is going to look great. Right? See? You got this.
