"Hello. My name is Greg and I've been asked to do a review of a Champion 3000 pound winch. I've got it mounted specific to my application. The motor on this winch is very quiet, and without taking it apart I'm going to assume that it's well lubricated on the inside and that the gear drives are well lubricated, and that's a plus. The fair lead, I like the clearances on the rollers. You can take these apart, you can clean them, you can lube them. From a maintenance point of view, that's what you want to have.

On the other side here, this free spooling device is very accessible and it clicks in very positively. You can hear it. Right now it's going to free spool. I can pull the cable back out, then I can lock it up and it'll click into place, and I know it's locked. The way that the Champion people supplied the bracketry, I was able to use some existing mounts on the bike, and it can be positioned in virtually any position.

There's only one feature that I think I would like to see on the winch, and that would be a hand held remote. In some circumstances you can sink an ATV in the mud. You may not be able to reach the handle bar switch, a hand held remote would be a definite asset. Further to that, I like the weight of this unit. It is light, and when you're using an ATV every pound counts. Overall this is a nice package, it's compact. I would definitely recommend the capabilities of this winch.
